Such agreements are particularly worthwhile if you have acquired assets prior to marriage/civil partnerships which you want to protect, there are potential future inheritances and/or if you are planning to marry or enter into a civil partnership for a second or subsequent occasion. You may have children from a previous relationship whom you want to ensure are not disadvantaged as a result of any financial claims made by your spouse/civil partner.
